WPL Auction 2023: "I Am Really Excited To Be Part Of RCB" - Smriti Mandhana

The Women’s Premiere League (WPL) Auction 2023 has been quite intriguing so far. Indian Women’s Cricket Team vice-captain Smriti Mandhana has been signed by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for a whopping INR 3.4 Crore. The left-handed batter had missed India’s opening game in T20 WC against Pakistan due to an injury.

Indian Women’s Cricket Team has been making significant progress in the T20s but isn’t able to win the championships. BCCI would be hoping that the team gets a bunch of match-winners through this league. The team has got a brilliant top order but every time they won’t finish the match for the team.

Smriti Mandhana on WPL Auction 2023

Smriti Mandhana was having an interaction with Sports18 and was asked about the WPL Auction.

“I was always glued to auctions of men’s whenever it used to happen. And it’s such a big moment for women’s cricket too, for us to have an auction of this sort. So really, I think this is just a history of firstly announcement of WPL and then the definitely this auction,” said Smriti Mandhana.

Smriti Mandhana on getting signed by RCB

Smriti Mandhana was asked about what it means to play for the RCB franchise in the inaugural WPL 2023

“I think the whole thing is exciting and I’m just saying it’s just an exciting time ahead. I think RCB have a big legacy as they have been in IPL for more than a decade and it’s built a lot of big fanbase So, really excited to be, part of such a big franchise and I hope that we both can together build a great team,” said Smriti Mandhana.

“I’m really excited to be part of RCB. And really excited to be wearing the red colour and, going out trying to get the cup. All the fans keep supporting us. We’ll try and have a great tournament,” she added.
