The Women’s Premier League (WPL) Auction 2023 is already receiving media attention. Pooja Vastrakar, a formidable all-around player for the Indian Women’s Cricket Team, has been acquired by the Mumbai Indians for INR 1.90 crores.

There will be around 400 players participating in the auction for the first women’s T20 league. Five clubs will compete against one another during the inaugural season, according to information released by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) concerning today’s auction.

Player Auction in Mumbai, where 449 female cricket players will be auctioned off for five teams: Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Giants, Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and UP Warriorz.

Every franchise would be able to select 15–18 players with a budget of Rs. 12 crores. For overseas players, the reserved base price is set at Rs. 50 lakhs, Rs. 40 lakhs, and Rs. 20 lakhs, while for uncapped players, it is Rs. 10 lakhs and Rs. 20 lakhs.

Mumbai Indians Buy Pooja Vastrakar:

Pooja Vastrakar had set INR 50 lakh as her base price for the Women’s Premier League (WPL) auction. She was among 24 players in the INR 50 lakh bracket for the auction.

Pooja Vastrakar, a powerful lower-order all-rounder for the Indian side, was acquired by Mumbai Indians for INR 1.9 crore and received a response from Delhi Capitals, who were also interested in acquiring Indian T20 specialists. Pooja’s addition will undoubtedly increase Mumbai Indians’ batting depth with the presence of Harmanpreet Kaur and Nat Sciver already.

Mumbai Indians will enter the Auction with a budget of Rs 12 crore, just like all other clubs. A minimum of 15 and a maximum of 18 players may be purchased by the franchise. Players can be purchased for anywhere between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 50 lakh.
