WPL 2024

The much-awaited auction for the next season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) is scheduled to take place on Saturday (December 9). The event will be held in Mumbai from 03:00 PM (IST).

The top three teams of the inaugural season – Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, and Up Warriorz – have opted for stability after doing well in WPL 2023. While defending champions Mumbai Indians and UP Warriorz have retained 13 players each, Delhi Capitals have decided to retain 15 players.

On the other hand, Gujarat Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore have decided to make big changes to their squad after their poor campaign in the last season. Both teams managed to win just two of their eight league games and finished in the last two positions.

While Royal Challengers Bangalore finished at the fourth spot, Gujarat Giants ended up with the wooden spoon. Following the poor season, the Bengaluru-based outfit has released seven players, the Giants have decided to release as many as 11 players as they seek a fresh start in the tournament.
