On Saturday, July 2 the veteran India National Cricket Team wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha received the No objection Certificate (NoC) from the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB).

The 37-year-old Siliguri-born wicketkeeper-batsman played for Bengal for more than a decade. He didn’t participate in the Ranji Trophy 2022 league stage due to personal reasons and later it was reported that a senior Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) official had questioned his commitment to Bengal.

Wriddhiman Saha was named in the Bengal squad for the Ranji Trophy 2022 knockout stage. However, he didn’t want to participate as he was upset with comments by a senior CAB official.

“Before the IPL, an incident happened and then and there, I decided not to play for Bengal anymore. Having played so long for Bengal, if someone hurled nasty comments at you, it hurts.

“I was hurt, personally, and that’s why I decided to change my state. I have talked to a number of states, but nothing is finalised as of now,” Saha was quoted as saying in an interview with Sports Today on June 20.

The veteran wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha met the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) president Avishek Dalmiya, after returning from a holiday, and he formally sought a No Objection Certificate to play for another state.

“Mr Wriddhiman Saha came to CAB and in an application to President Avishek Dalmiya sought the NOC from the association. CAB gave concurrence to the request of Mr Saha and provided the NOC to him for playing for another state,” said CAB in a statement.

“CAB also wished him the very best for his future endeavours.”

Saha, who is no longer being considered for India selection, is looking forward to play for a different state in the next domestic season. Also, he is in conversation with a few state associations, including Tripura and Gujarat, as per the Indian Express.
