Yuzvendra Chahal Will Blaze On All Cylinders In T20 World Cup - Reetinder Sodhi

Former Indian player Reetinder Sodhi said Yuzzvendra Chahal is set to impose troubles against the other teams in the T20 World Cup. Chahal has been consistent with his bowling performance after getting snubbed in last year’s T20 World Cup squad. 

Chahal won the Purple cap in the IPL 2022, playing in his first season for Rajasthan Royals, the leg-spinner claimed 27 wickets in 17 games at an economy rate of 7.75. 

He has been among the wickets in the bilateral series he has played thus far. Chahal snapped six wickets in the South Africa T20Is and added four more scalps in the three-match T20I series against England.

Chahal has fired in the ODI legs against England and West Indies, amassing a total of 14 wickets in the last six matches. He finished 4/17 in the final ODI game against West Indies at Queen’s Park Oval on Wednesday.

Sodhi believes Chahal is grooming with self-confidence and will go full throttle in the coming matches. 

“Whenever you give Chahal the ball, it feels like he will create magic with it. He gives you a lot of confidence. There were doubts about his place in the team, but he has once again emerged as a match-winner,” Sodhi told India News. 

“This is an alarm bell for other teams in the T20 World Cup in Australia. It doesn’t matter to him whether there is turn in the pitch or not. He has tremendous self-belief and I feel he will blaze on all cylinders,” he added.

Chahal is not part of the Indian squad in the five-match T20I series against the West Indies. The Indian selectors have included Kuldeep Yadav and Ravichandran Ashwin in the squad. Ravindra Jadeja and Ravi Bishop are the other spin bowling options available for selection.
