Zimbabwe and Afghanistan go head to head in the third and final T20I in Harare on Tuesday, June 14. The Afghan side has already won the series by winning the first two T20Is. Zimbabwe, on the other hand, is yet to win the series. They are staring down the barrel after losing the ODI series.
Craig Ervine leads Zimbabwe in the ZIM vs AFG T20I series while Mohammad Nabi leads Afghanistan. Heading into the T20I series, Afghanistan whitewashed the African nation in a three-match ODI series. They won the first ODI by 60 runs. In the second ODI, they won by 8 wickets chasing and in the third Afghanistan won by 4 wickets.
Coming to the T20Is, Afghanistan started with a six-wicket win in the first T20I. In the second T20I, they defended 170 and won the game by 21 runs. Afghanistan have already qualified for the T20 World Cup later this year in Australia. Zimbabwe meanwhile continues to strive and pick themselves up to compete in international cricket.
Afghanistan has a far superior head-to-head record against Zimbabwe in T20Is. In the previous 14 games between the two sides, Afghanistan have won 13 matches while Zimbabwe just one. The Afghans have also won four of the last five games between the two sides.
