After winning the T20I series 2-1, Zimbabwe are leading the ODI series as well after winning the first game by five wickets. They chased down Bangladesh’s total of 303 with 8 balls to spare. The second ODI will be played on Sunday, August 7 while the third on August 10. The Tigers need to win the second game to keep the series alive.

Tons from Sikandar Raza and Innocent Kaia helped them chase down the target after Zimbabwe were 6-2 in the second over of the chase. The duo added a 192 run-stand to shape the win for the African nation. Raza who was the Man of the Match lauded Kaia for his support at the other end.

“I thought Innocent was brilliant out there, when we get a partnership like that it always helps. I think all the senior players are trying to be an example for the youngsters and building a culture. I thought we were behind the game at one point, but I told Innocent if we stay till the end then we will win the game” said Raza.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh skipper Tamim Iqbal who has been the voice behind the uprise of ODI cricket in the country lamented the close loss. He thought they were 15-20 runs short with the bat and also blamed bad fielding and dropped catches for the loss.

“I didn’t think we had enough. We could have pushed a little more, we were 15-20 runs short. We knew we had to bat like a Test match in the first 10-15 overs. We have been dropping catches regularly and someday it will cost us, that was today” said Tamim.
