Zimbabwe hosts Bangladesh for a full-fledged tour with all three formats of the game to be played. The tour starts with the one-off Test followed by the three-match ODI and T20I series. The hosts have named four uncapped players in their 18-member squad. Chivanga Tanaka, Joylord Gumbie, Takudzwanashe Kaitano, and Dion Myers are the four players who have been added. The touring Bangladesh side has announced a 2-member side with Tamim Iqballeading them in the Test match.

Both sides have played in 17 Test matches in the past. Each team has won seven games each with three matches ending in a draw. Bangladesh are heading into this Test series after a 2-1 win against Sri Lanka in an ODI series. On the other hand, Zimbabwe lost to Pakistan in a two-match Test series. Thus it will be important for the hosts to win the series and welcome back cricket to their country.
