As per ICC’s release, he failed to report two approaches – the first one was made during the tri-series against Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka in 2018 while the second approach was made during IPL 2018.

While the release did not mention the tri-series’ match during which he was approached, the release does mention the IPL match.

He was approached for fixing ahead of the Sunrisers Hyderabad’s match against Kings XI Punjab which took place on April 26, 2018 at Rajiv Gandhi Internation Stadium in Hyderabad.

Here’s a look at his performance in that match –

Shakib played a pivotal role in SRH’s win over Kings XI Punjab in a low-scoring match where the visitors were dismissed on 119 in the chase to a target of 133. Asked to bat first, SRH scored 132/6 in 20 overs.

They were three down for 27 before Shakib (28 off 29) and Manish Pandey (54 off 51) rescued the team and put up 52 runs for the fourth wicket.

In the chase, KL Rahul (32 off 26) and Chris Gayle (23 off 22) put up 55 runs for the first wicket but KXIP suffered a slump as none of the middle order batsmen could provide stability to the team. They were dismissed for 119.

Shakib also shone with the ball as he scalped two wickets in three overs that he bowled. Rashid Khan played a key role in SRH’s win as he scalped three wickets in his four overs.

Tri-series’ performance –

Bangladesh hosted Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka in a tri-series in January 2018 where the hosts and SL qualified for the final. In the summit clash, Sri Lanka defeated Bangladesh by 79 runs to win the series.

Shakib was the key performer in Bangladesh’s success during the series as he scored 163 runs from four innings at 40.75 and scalped nine wickets – he was a joint-highest wicket-taker for his team.
