Like most former and current cricketers, Allan Lamb chose Sir Vivian Richards as the greatest batsman amongst the ones he played against. The Antiguan was one of the feared batsmen for all the bowlers during his playing days, capable of taking the attack to the opposition from the word go. With an average of above 50 in Tests and ODIs, Richards has undoubtedly etched his name amongst the best.

While labelling the West Indian as his most preferred, Allan admitted that he picked based on the best he played against. He went on to acknowledged Sachin Tendulkar as one of the best Test players; however, the 65-year old wouldn’t churn out athletes, who he hasn’t faced much.

“My greatest would be Viv Richards. And you got to remember I’m saying because of the players I’ve played against, you know, that’s where I like to pick my team. You know, if you take like Sachin Tendulkar, to me, he is one of the greatest Test match players, but I don’t like to pick a team that I haven’t played against. So it’ll be players that I have played with or played against or through a lot of them.” Allan Lamb stated.
