Indian leg-spinner Amit Mishra has recalled his 144-run partnership with the legendary Sachin Tendulkar during the fourth Test of the 2011 England tour. Amit Mishra played an 84-run knock in the game and acted as a night watchman for India. However, his valiant efforts went in vain as team India lost the match by an innings and eight runs.
Sachin Tendulkar, on the other hand, also tried his level best to rescue the team from the crisis by playing a 91-run knock. However, the English bowlers proved to be dangerous for the Indian batsmen as Graeme Swan rattled through India’s batting line up by picking up six wickets in India’s second innings.
For Amit Mishra, his partnership with the master-blaster, on the other hand, will forever be a memory to cherish as the leg-spinner himself states it.
Amit Mishra Recalls His Century Stand With Sachin Tendulkar
“I am really proud to have batted with Sachin paji. I think it was one of the most memorable moments of my Test career. We were playing against England in the 2011 tour, and I had scored 43 in the first innings,” said Mishra during an Instagram Live session with the official handle of Delhi Capitals on Sunday.
“The second innings, we were following on, and needed to play well to avoid defeat. I went in as nightwatchman, and Sachin paji kept guiding me through the innings. It was important for us to get through the morning session, and I ended up scoring 84, while paji made 91. However, I was also really gutted that we lost the match,” Amit Mishra added.
Sachin Tendulkar Holds A Legendary Stature In World Cricket
Sachin has been one of the greatest finds of cricket. He has scored more than 34000 international runs for India across all formats. The master-blaster went on to score 100 tons in international cricket, and the cherry on his cake was the world cup win in 2011.
The legendary Tendulkar has set and broken almost all the records that there are in the game of cricket. What stands out is his consistency over the years as he represented India for 24 years and played some of the most beautiful knocks that the cricketing world will ever witness.
