Andrew Tye Ruled Out Of The Sri Lanka Series

Australia pacer Andrew Tye will miss the upcoming three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka owing to an elbow injury. The cricketer is likely to stay out of action from the following series against Pakistan as well. However, skipper Aaron Finch has regained fitness to feature in the first game starting October 27 (Sunday).

The tall fast bowler copped up a blow during training two days prior to the first match. He will soon visit a specialist for a diagnosis and start his rehabilitation. However, Australia will still be able to manage without Andrew Tye. They have the likes of Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, Billy Stanlake and Kane Richardson at their disposal.

Speaking on the eve of the game, Aaron Finch said that it was during the first part of the training session when Tye felt something. Meanwhile, Australia will see the return of Steve Smith and Aaron Finch for the first time in T20Is since the ball-tampering scandal. Australia is yet to announce a replacement for Andrew Tye.

“It was one of the first handful of throws he did in a high-intensity drill which required 100 per cent throwing,” Finch said. “He was just a little bit off balance and I think it was a bit of a side-arm, slinging type throw and (he) just felt a little pop,” he added.

Meanwhile, skipper Aaron Finch has regained fitness and will come out to open the innings alongside David Warner. had been battling a side strain which kept him out of Victoria’s Sheffield Shield and March One-Day Cup games in the past week.

However, after Friday’s training, the management cleared Finch to play the first match of the series. Middle-order batsman Ashton Turner has also regained fitness to throw himself into contention despite having some limitations with regards to throwing.
