The ‘Apna Time Aayega’ rap from the upcoming Bollywood film Gully Boy has taken the country by storm. From teenagers to adults, almost everyone is obsessed with the rap. Not surprisingly, the rap has been also used heavily across social media. Well, rising India star Prithvi Shaw also could not stop himself from using the popular lines of the rap. The opening batsman is currently sidelined with the ankle injury he sustained in Australia.

One of the most highly-rated youngsters in the game, Shaw made his much awaited Test debut during the Windies series at home last year and completely lived up to the expectations.  At 18, he became the youngest Indian to make a Test hundred on debut. He followed that up with 70 and 33 not out, taking his batting average for the year past 118. Unsurprisingly, hopes were sky high from him when he travelled to Australia with the team for the four-match series. Shaw further elevated the buzz surrounding him with a blazing fifty in the warm-up game.

However, hours later he suffered a big setback when he injured his ankle while fielding in the warm-up game. He stayed on with the team hoping to be fit for the second Test in Perth but was eventually ruled out of the remainder of the series and sent back home for an extensive rehabilitation programme. Efforts were then on to get the batsman fit for the series but the severity of the injury dashed his hopes. Mayank Agarwal later replaced him.

Shaw is yet to return to competitive cricket since suffering the injury but he is definitely desperate to do so as his latest Instagram post suggested. He posted a picture of himself, writing:

“Aapna Time Aayega… Injury se Fit Hoke…. Mein Aur Run Banayega… Apna Time Aayega… “

An avid cricket lover, I just love this game more than anything. Writing about cricket keeps me closer to the game.
