Ashes 2017/18: Twitter Reacts As James Anderson Picks His First Five Wicket Haul in Australia
Updated - 12 Jun 2019, 05:18 PM
England made a fantastic comeback in the second Test as they bundled out the hosts for a mere 138 runs which means that England have to chase 354 runs which is also the highest ever target at the Adelaide Oval ever. Earlier in the match, England was bowled out for just 227 in their first innings which gave the Australians a lead of 215 in the first innings.
England needed a hero in the second innings, and they had one in, James Anderson. Anderson took his 25th five-wicket haul and his first on Australian soil. Anderson who is England’s highest wicket-taker assumed the responsibility of getting England back into the game on his shoulder as he removed Cameron Bancroft and Usman Khawaja on day three of the Test. He then picked up the wickets of Peter Handscomb, Nathan Lyon who was sent a night watchman on day three and Mitchell Starc.
Anderson picked up his first five-wicket haul in Australia in 30 innings and also became the oldest bowler to do so since Glen McGrath in 2006.
Let’s have a look at how Twitter reacted to Jimmy’s performance.

Terrific effort by England to knock Australia over & very happy that Jimmy Anderson finally showed the Australian public how good a bowler he is. There is no indication that England can get these runs but records are there to be broken. What a series it would b if England got 354

No better bowler in the planet to make the ball talk when it swings than "Ohh.. Jimmy, Jimmy Anderson".
First 5-fer in Aus, 5-43, bowling Aus for 138. Plastic ball swing!

First 5-for for Jimmy Anderson in Australia after 15 test. I had a quick chat with him before the start of day 1. I didn't want to tinker with his technique that much so focused my discussion mostly on the mental aspects of fast bowling. All credit to him he is a quick learner pic.twitter.com/kV91439w3H
