India fast-bowler Ashoke Dinda is firing all guns blazing in this year’s Ranji Trophy season, in the first match against Services in Delhi he smashed a quickfire half-century and surprised everyone with an innings of 55 runs of just 25 balls.

The 33-year old bowled just 24 overs in that game and managed to pick only one wicket but when in the next game against Chattisgarh, after Bengal posted a mammoth first inning total of 529/7, Dinda wrecked havoc in the Chattisgarh camp.

It took Dinda just 65 deliveries (10.5 overs) before he registered impressive figures of seven wickets for just 21 runs out of which five overs were maiden.

Chattisgarh’s captain and Indian international Mohammad Kaif did not manage to trouble the scorers, as he was cleaned up by Mohammed Shami for a duck.

Ashok Dinda’s spell helped Bengal to bundle out their opponents in their home ground for just 110 runs in the first innings. He recorded figures of 10.5-5-21-7.

This performance from Dinda has certainly put him in the slot for the backups in the pace bowling department, as the national selectors have shown that they are not going to ignore the numbers in the domestic circuit.

In other games, Saurashtra’s Ravindra Jadeja scored a majestic double hundred before shining with the ball and taking four scalps against Jammu and Kashmir, his performance certainly shows that the all-round is ready for international competition.

Jadeja’s spin partner Ravichandran Ashwin failed to create an impact, as he bowled 25 overs but could only manage two wickets. Since his comeback from County cricket this was Ashwin’s second game where to failed to left his charm with the ball.
