Out of favour team India middle-order batsman, Suresh Raina congratulated the side on winning their seventh Asia Cup title, as the Men in Blue beat Bangladesh in the final of the tournament by three wickets.

Kedar Jadhav struck a boundary on the very last delivery of Asia Cup 2018 to seal the deal for India. However, the match swung like the pendulum. It was India who held onto their nerves and clinched a nail-biting thriller.

Suresh Raina congratulated Team India on a thrilling victory

Taking to his twitter handle, Raina commended the team for massive success. India was without the services of Virat Kohli. Hence, the achievement is indeed unique given India gave a chance to many new faces in Asia Cup 2018.

“Congratulations #teamIndia on winning #AsiaCup for the record 7th time, Proud of you guys! Also, appreciate high spirited game efforts by team #Bangladesh. #INDvBAN #AsiaCupFinal2018,” Raina wrote.

It was the Indian skipper, Rohit Sharma who led his troops pretty well. He won the toss and put Bangladesh to bat. They started off sensationally with Liton Das thrashing the Indian bowlers all around the park. He had a new partner in Mehidy Hasan who also supported him quite brilliantly. The duo shared a 120-run stand for the opening wicket before there was a collapse which left Bangladesh reeling.

Wickets kept falling at regular intervals and the Indian team tightened the screws on Bangladesh. Liton Das scored his maiden ODI century and got dismissed on 121. Eventually, Bangladesh managed to score just 222 runs. It was not going to be a difficult task for the Indians to chase the target down.

However, they had to huff and puff to the victory target in the end. India lost three wickets for 80 odd runs, as Rohit Sharma got dismissed after making 48.

From there on, it was not easy for the Men in Blue to chase the target down. MS Dhoni and Dinesh Karthik shared a good partnership. But quick wickets again put them in the backfoot.

Later, Ravindra Jadeja and Bhuvneshwar Kumar took the team pretty close, but both got dismissed pretty early. Eventually, it was Kedar Jadhav and Kuldeep Yadav who ensured India chased the target down on the final delivery of the match.
