Asia Cup 2018: Gautam Gambhir Lashes Out at Tanvir Ahmed for his Comments Against Virat Kohli

Gautam Gambhir has lashed out at former Pakistan bowler, Tanvir Ahmed for his comments hurled at team India regular skipper, Virat Kohli that he ran away from Asia Cup 2018. Meanwhile, India beat Pakistan by eight wickets in Dubai on Wednesday.

There is no doubt about the fact that India-Pakistan cricket match gets considered as the mother of all clashes. Tanvir Ahmed called Kohli a ‘deserter’ for not playing the Asia Cup 2018.

However, his comments didn’t go down well with Gautam Gambhir. The out of favour Indian opener said Tanvir should look at his record rather than speaking on a legend like Virat Kohli.

The Indian selectors rested to Kohli rest especially after playing non-stop cricket for an extended period. However, for Asia Cup 2018, Rohit Sharma was appointed the skipper.

Kohli persuaded with a flurried back all through the Test series in England. However, Tanvir Ahmed stated if Kohli can play in England despite being injured then he should have played the Asia Cup 2018. He further added Kohli ran away from his responsibility especially after knowing the fact that they would be meeting Pakistan thrice in the tournament.

“Meri nazar mein Virat Kohli bhaag gaye hain. England ki wo poori series khele. England ki Test series mein unko back ka problem hua, uske baad bhi wo matches khele. Jab ek player apne mulk ke liye England ki series khel sakta hai, toh jab usko pata hai Asia Cup jitna bada event aa raha hai, toh jab wo England series survive kar sakta hai toh Asia Cup bhi survive kar sakta hai.

Virat played the entire Test series in England. He suffered a back problem in the limited-overs series in England. He continued to play despite that. When a player can play a series against England for his country battling a back issue, then he could have managed to play in Asia Cup as well. Kohli knew that India might have to play with Pakistan on three occasions including the final which is why he ran away.)

Gautam Gambhir was livid with his comments 

Gambhir was livid with the comments made by Tanvir and reminded him of his international career.

“Virat Kohli has 35-36 centuries to his name. He (Tanvir) doesn’t even have 35 international matches to his name,” Gautam Gambhir concluded.
