In a precautionary move, the match between Asia XI versus World XI is likely to be postponed amid the large spread coronavirus scare.
According to report in cricfrenzy.com, “Bangladesh Cricket Board is all set to cancel the two international T-20 matches between Asia XI and World XI that they were supposed to host to mark the centenary birthday of father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman”.
Bangladesh Cricket Board have contacted players for confirmation
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) have contacted the participating players to know their stand about the tournament. According to the report, the participation of most of the players looks doubtful.
‘’Yes it is doubtful (the match between Asia XI and World XI) though nothing is confirmed,’’ said a BCB official.
BCB not trying to sell too many tickets for the tournament
With the clouds of uncertainty hovering over the matches, the Bangladesh cricket board has decided not to sell too many tickets for the tournament.
‘’We have decided to sell only one ticket to one person during the two T20’s against Zimbabwe,’’ said Nizamuddin.
‘’The government have directed to discourage public gathering and following that we have taken this initiative,’’ he said.
In Bangladesh, at least three people have been tested positive with the novel coronavirus. In a measure to provide safety for the players, the BCB might take necessary measures, even if it means cancelling the tournament for now.
