Australia opener David Warner suffered a serious injury scare after he banged his head against the turf near the boundary during a fielding attempt in the ongoing second T20I match between Australia and England being played at Canberra on October 12, 2022.

Aaron Finch won the toss and sent England to bat first at the Manuka Oval. The home side made five changes to their team with Mitchell Marsh coming in for Cameron Green and Finch opening with Warner. For England, Jos Buttler revealed that Chris Jordan and David Willey came in for Mark Wood and Chris Woakes.

England batted well to post 178/7 in 20 overs, but only three batters went into double figures Jos Buttler made 17 runs, while Dawid Malan top-scored with 82 in 49 balls with 7 fours and 4 sixes to his name. Moeen Ali also made an important contribution with 44in 27 balls with 2 sixes and 4 fours.

Marcus Stoinis was the pick of the bowlers from Australia with figures of 3/34.

David Warner Suffered Head Injury During Fielding But Comes Back To Open The Innings For Australia  

There was a scare for the Australia squad on Wednesday after David Warner made a hasty exit from their game against England following a head knock. The 35-year-old was posted at the boundary when Moeen Ali swatted a ball toward him.

However, the catch would have had to be the best one with Warner expected to make an exceptional effort to dismiss the England vice-captain. Falling backwards with the flight of the ball, Warner got a hand to it but was unable to gather cleanly.

Reaching in a last-ditch try to grab the ball, the batsman failed to brace for contact and his head snapped back and hit the turf. Warner was quick to realize something was amiss and took himself off the field before medical assistance arrived and took him back to the dressing room for further diagnosis.

However, he was given the all-clear to continue as he came out to open the innings with Aaron Finch, but could only make 4 runs in 11 balls before Reece Topley had him caught by Harry Brook.
