Twitter reacts as Australia thump England by seven wickets at the MCG

Australia won their third Twenty20 International in a row as they defeated England in the third T20I of the triangular series at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne.

Australia under the leadership of David Warner has now won three out of three T20I’s played in the series.

England was handed their second successive loss by the hands of Australia who had against their arch-rivals.

Australia now has six points from three matches while England and New Zealand are yet to open their account.

Australia were set a target of 138 in the third T20 after they won the toss and opted to field first.

England started poorly as they lost two early wickets in the form of opening batsman Alex Hales and Jason Roy.

England’s innings was steadied by wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler who scored 46 runs to help his team reach a competitive total of 137/7.

For Australia, Kane Richardson picked up three wickets while Billy Stanlake picked up two wickets.

In reply, David Warner’s poor run with the bat continued as he was dismissed for just two runs. Chris Lynn then came in and scored 31 off 19 balls.

Glenn Maxwell continued his good form with the bat and scored 39 runs off 26 balls. Aaron Finch finished the match as he hit two sixes and two boundaries in the five balls he faced.

The teams will now travel to New Zealand for the remainder of the series.
