Hanuma Vihari, who made his Test debut against England at the Oval says he had already begun training for the Australia Tests, which starts on December 6th. Meanwhile, the right-handed batsman had a dream debut, as he hit his maiden fifty and took three wickets in the match as well.

The Andhra batsman added he did find it tough to get used to the conditions but eventually played out the English bowlers. He opined playing his natural game helped him find runs in those conditions.

“Yes, I do remember every bit of it. I faced difficulty in adjusting to those conditions initially as the ball was moving a lot.”

“However, after I got settled everything fell in place, and I could play my natural game,” Hanuma Vihari says in a chat with India Today.

Moreover, the 25-year old played a match-winning knock for India B against India A in the Deodhar Trophy. He scored unbeaten 87 runs in the first match at Firoz Shah Kotla Stadium on Tuesday, and on Wednesday, against India C, the right-hander hit his third half-century on the trot in List A cricket.

Keen to see myself on the plane to Australia – Hanuma

Furthermore, it got difficult to get a place for him in the playing XI against the Windies in the home Tests. Later, Hanuma Vihari was released from the squad during the second Test to lead Andhra Pradesh in the in the quarterfinal game in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2018. However, the team did not go to the semi-final, but the all-rounder scored 95 runs.

“I know it will be difficult for me to get into the Test eleven while playing at home as five bowlers will play in India, and I understand that.”

“I have already started preparing for the Australia tour and, if given an opportunity, will strive to perform well Down Under,” he added.

In addition to that, Hanuma Vihari was the 26th Indian player to score a half-century on Test debut. Meanwhile, Vihari will be keen to see himself in the squad and also in the playing XI against Australia.
