Australia vs India 2018-19: Australia Announce 14-Man Squad for ODI Series

Australia has announced their 14-man squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against India. Aaron Finch, who was dropped from the ongoing final and fourth Test match, is going to hold the captaincy reins. However, there is no place for the Test captain, Tim Paine. Alex Carey is going to hold the wicketkeeping duties and will share the vice-captaincy responsibilities with Mitchell Marsh, who was also dropped from the fourth Test match. Carey is in good form in the ongoing Big Bash League while playing for Adelaide Strikers.

Australia is currently trailing 2-1 in the ongoing Test series and has their backs against the wall in the fourth Test match. India has made 389-5 and looks good to seal their maiden Test series on Australia soil.

Australia will like to turn the tables.

Consequently, Australia will like to turn the tables in the ODI series and play at the top of their game. The hosts will hope that the change in format will bring change in fortune for them.

Meanwhile, Nathan Lyon who has been Australia’s best bowler in the recent past has found a place in the ODI squad. Lyon has thus far scalped 19 wickets in the ongoing series and would like to take his Test form into the 50-overs version.

On the other hand, pace troika of Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood have been once again rested from the ODI squad. Consequently, pacers like Jhye Richardson, Billy Stanlake, Jason Behrendorff, Peter Siddle will take the fast bowling responsibility.

The first ODI will take place at Sydney on January 12.
