Former Australian coach Darren Lehmann is surprised over the rest of Jasprit Bumrah in the ongoing three-match ODI series against Australia. Jasprit Bumrah was the pick of the Indian bowlers in the four-match Test series which was recently concluded. In fact, Bumrah was the star of the show as he took 21 wickets which were the most in the series along with Nathan Lyon.

Bumrah bowled with an average of 17 and strike rate of 44.9 in the Test series, which India won by 2-1. The gun fast bowler scalped nine wickets in the third Test match at Melbourne and was also awarded the Man of the match.

Bumrah is rested to manage the workload.

The rising star of Indian cricket has had a dream start to his Test career as he has scalped 49 wickets in the 10 Test matches.

However, Bumrah was rested from the ODI series against Australia and New Zealand to keep his workload in check. Subsequently, Mohammed Siraj was named as the replacement for India’s premier fast bowler. Furthermore, Siddarth Kaul was added to the T20I squad for the series against the Kiwis.

“I don’t know why they have left Jasprit Bumrah out from this side. He was so bloody good in the Test series. Maybe the upcoming series against New Zealand is the reason,” said Darren Lehmann while talking in the commentary box.

Bumrah has been India’s best bowler and he has been a perfect find for the Indian team. Subsequently, it is imperative for the team management to be smart in handling his workload.
