Australia vs India 2018-19: Facing Bhuvneshwar Kumar Early is the Worst Possible Scenario for Aaron Finch - Ian Chappell
Updated - 18 Jan 2019, 02:48 PM
Former Australian Cricket team skipper Ian Chappell has admitted that the limited-overs skipper Aaron Finch has failed to read the line of Indian National Cricket team fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the ongoing ODI series.
Meanwhile, Finch has struggled to provide poor starts in the three-match series. He has had figures of 6,6, and 14 in the three-games as Australia will worry over their opening pair with the ICC World Cup in sight. Incidentally, Bhuvneshwar Kumar has removed Aaron Finch in all the three occasions.
Bhuvneshwar bowled Finch in the first two ODIs after the ball came back in to get the right-hander – the first one finding the gap between bat and pad, and the second getting chopped on to the stumps. In the third ODI on Friday, the ball came back in once again and this time it beat Finch’s inside edge to strike the pad first. The Aussie opener had moved well ahead of the crease to defend but missed the ball completely to be struck on the knee roll.
Ian Chappell, during the 3rd ODI, revealed that Aaron Finch has struggled to read Bhuvneshwar Kumar. He also noted that facing Kumar with the new ball is the worst possible scenario for the Aussie opener.
“It seems Aaron Finch has failed to read Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s line & length. Not just this match, but all the three matches. Having to face Kumar early on is the worst possible scenario for Finch,” Chappell said.
However, Aaron Finch ahead of the series decider admitted that he still feels he is a good batsman. The dashing batsman will have to regain his form with the ICC World Cup in a few months time.
