The vice-captain of Indian National Cricket team, Ajinkya Rahane seemed satisfied with the way he batted in the recently-concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Rahane shared a crucial stand with Cheteshwar Pujara in the Adelaide Test which laid the platform for India’s victory. Eventually, the visitors took an all-important 1-0 lead in the four-match series.

However, Rahane saw a dip in his performances in the Tests to follow. He managed to score one half-century in the five innings to follow. The batsman from Mumbai got few starts but failed to capitalise on it. But Ajinkya Rahane was happy with the way he batted in Australia.

I am really happy with the way I batted in the series. I made a 70 in the second innings at Adelaide. That was crucial because the match was balanced at the point and you never know how the match would have gone if I had gotten out cheaply.

Pujara deserved credit for the win because he scored a ton after we were at 40 for four. He helped us set a total in the first innings and I think our partnership…. between Pujara and myself in the second innings was crucial as well,” Rahane said to India Today.

India won the Adelaide Test by 31 runs but went down in Perth as Australia leveled the series. However, Virat Kohli & Co bounced back to win the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne before drawing out a rain-marred Sydney. Ajinkya Rahane feels it is just the beginning for long domination.

“Yes, I think it’s just begun for the team (the journey for domination). We have at Lord’, we have won at Johannesburg. Test match wins are special but I can’t tell you in words how special it is to win a Test series, abroad,” he concluded.
