A few days back, he had received flak for his 96-ball 51; now, on Tuesday, post the Adelaide ODI, MS Dhoni is getting lauded for his match-winning inning. The former India captain, for the second in two games, completed a fifty; but this time, India won the game too. Meanwhile, what brought back old memories was MS Dhoni’s masterstroke hit over the long-on. Nevertheless, he took a single to complete the formalities, but his shot for a six was all the country has been waiting to watch.

Dhoni, Kohli help India level series

Much before an old, vintage MS Dhoni gave the finishing touches, it was Virat Kohli, who stunned the Adelaide crowd with his 39th ODI ton. Chasing a mammoth 299 at his favourite venue, the India National Cricket Team captain took his time before hitting a hundred. By virtue of this knock, Virat completed his fifth hundred in Adelaide; his fourth against Australia across formats.

However, he didn’t stay till the last over, as Jyhe Richardson got his wicket. By that time, India was more or less in the chase, needing 57 runs with around six overs remaining. Standing at the crease, MS Dhoni and Dinesh Kartik, then did the job, finishing the game off with four balls remaining.

Dhoni rolls back the clock with massive six

Mahendra Singh Dhoni is well past his prime; even he knows about it. However, by no mean possible his finishing abilities have diminished; the world knows by now. Aged 37, MS’ reflexes have been shadowed, yes; but he still can clear the ropes.

Remember the straight hit off Clint McKay many years back at the Adelaide Oval? Well, Dhoni did the same this time too. As he was approaching his second fifty of the tour, and India needing seven off the last over; MSD didn’t take long before opening his arms. Jason Behrendorff, bowling the last over saw MS hitting a half-volley over his head for a six. On the next ball, he guided the delivery off his pads and took a single to finish off the game.
