Former Indian National Cricket team skipper MS Dhoni announced his arrival at the right moment as he steered his side to a six-wicket win against Australia at Sydney to level terms in the three-match series. Meanwhile, this will be a massive boost for the Indian side with the ICC World Cup in sight.

MS Dhoni received a lot of flak following his slow knock at Sydney where India went down by 34 runs. He played a 96-ball 51 runs innings as the pressure mounted on Rohit Sharma. Moreover, Dhoni lost his place in the side from the T20Is against Australia and Windies owing to poor form with the bat. However, the best finisher in the world has finally arrived and has arrived in style.

Chasing a stiff target of 299 runs, India got a good start but loss of two quick wickets put them on the backfoot. Since then, skipper Virat Kohli took control of the game as he paced his innings to great effect. He shared a small partnership with Ambati Rayudu before MS Dhoni came to the middle. Although Dhoni took time to settle in but looked fluent, unlike the other days. The duo calculated the chase without taking too many risks.

In the meantime, Virat Kohli brought his 39th hundred but soon holed out to deep mid-wicket in pursuit of increasing the scoring rate. But MS Dhoni continued to play his game as they aim to level terms in the series. He soon took the top gear to finish things off with four balls to spare. Requiring seven off six balls, Dhoni smacked the first ball off Jason Behendroff for a six to bring the equation to one from five deliveries. He then clipped one off the leg and then complete a quick single to finish the game in style.

Previously, Australia once again produced a brilliant effort with the bat to post 298 runs on the board. Shaun Marsh scored a brilliant hundred while Glenn Maxwell finished off the proceedings to put a challenging total.
