Indian National Cricket team fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah breathed fire on day three of the third Test, returning 6 for 33 to put his team in the driver’s seat against Australia at Melbourne.

Meanwhile, the hosts were all out for 151 before Pat Cummins (4/10) gave back with the ball, reducing India to 54/5 at stumps. However, the visitors are still in firm control of proceedings with a hefty lead of 346 with two days still to play.

The India opening duo added 18 runs before Cummins had Hanuma Vihari (13) with a bouncer. Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane walked back in quick succession for 0, 0 and 1, as Cummins picked up four wickets in just eight deliveries.Mayank Agarwal continued to impress despite all the chaos, holding one end together with his solid batting display, remaining unbeaten on 28. Rohit Sharma (5), dismissed by Josh Hazlewood was the last wicket to fall on the day.

Previously, Jasprit Bumrah was all over the Aussie batting bagging his career-best figure. This is his third five-wicket haul after South Africa and England is his debut year in Test cricket. Marcus Harris was the top-scorer for Australia scoring 22 runs before Bumrah dismissed him with a short pitch delivery.

However, Agarwal and Rishabh Pant, who will take guard for India on the fourth morning, will look to shore up India’s lead.

So far in the opening three days, Melbourne has produced some suitable playing conditions with the players giving in their 100 percent. After two dull days, the third day witnessed some intense cricket with both sides showing rays of victory despite India having more chances.

However, the weather seems to be not in favour of the Indian National Cricket team as the rain gods can come into play in the last two days. There are almost fifty percent chances of precipitation which can hurt India’s chances of going 2-1 ahead in the series.

As a result, Virat Kohli’s decision of not enforcing a follow-on can seriously come under the scanner.
