Australia’s experienced campaigner Aaron Finch is confident of turning things around ahead of the Test series against India. The limited overs’ skipper has a poor average of 9.6 in his last ten international innings. He didn’t manage to get off to flying starts in the last seven T20Is and three ODIs. The all-important Test series against Virat Kohli’s men start from December 6 onwards.
However, Finch had made a good start to his Test career against Pakistan. He had scored a couple of fifties and would look to carry on the same in the forthcoming series.
Aaron Finch had a dip in form
He was dismissed for a golden duck in the second T20I on Friday. The game was abandoned due to heavy showers. The hosts enjoy a 1-0 lead over the rivals with a game to spare. India, on the other hand, will look to level the series. Finch feels Tests cricket is a different ball game altogether and there are no reasons to panic.
Finch backs himself
“It’s a totally different format. When you’re looking to get after them so early in a T20 game, the first risk you take you can often get out,” Finch said ahead of the final T20I on Sunday.
He insists a lot of sweat is going underway and that a bit of polish off should be enough. “I’ve still been working very hard on my technique and doing a lot of work with [batting coach] Graeme Hick and trying to adjust a couple of little things. It’s not ideal, don’t get me wrong, but at the end of the day it’s the opposite format.“ he said.
Unlike limited overs cricket, Finch had to wait for his Baggy green cap. But it was all worth it as the batter had a prolific debut series. He averaged 44.80 in the two Tests against Pakistan in UAE. The bulky batter played spin well and was instrumental in the drawn Test. He is likely to bat at the number three position for Victoria as they face Queensland in the domestic competition.
