Australia limited overs skipper Aaron Finch is going to bat at one down for his state team Victoria in the Sheffield Shield match. As Finch is the front contender to open the innings in the first Test match against India, it makes more sense for him to bat at number three for Victoria. Thus, Finch is going to bat after Marcus Harris and Travis Dean.

Meanwhile, Aaron Finch is not in the best of forms in the limited overs format of the game. However, the combative right-hander had made a promising start to his Test career while playing against Pakistan. Finch had scored 181 runs in the two Test matches and was the third Test highest run-getter in the series.

Finally a good decision from Victoria’s think tank.

“I’m going to bat at No. 3 in the Shield game I think, I had a quick chat to Andrew McDonald this morning and I think that’s going to be the case,” Finch said on his arrival in Brisbane. “[Finch and Harris] have played a fair bit of cricket together now, so whether we walk out to open the batting together for Victoria or Australia or I bat at three, I don’t think it makes too much difference to be honest.

Thus, Aaron Finch is expected to open with Marcus Harris come the first Test match against India. Meanwhile, it was reported earlier that Finch was going to bat at his signature position of number five.

“I’m happy to bat anywhere, whatever the best way I fit into the Victoria side is important for the balance of their side to win games and we’ve had some really good success over the last four or five years, so it’s exciting to be back with them.”

It makes all the sense for Aaron Finch to bat in the top order. As he is going to open for Australia, it is a prudent decision from Victoria management to make him bat at number three.
