Former India wicket-keeper Farokh Engineer has termed this Australian team as ordinary and has backed Virat Kohli & Co to win the first-ever Test series Down Under.

Meanwhile, Australia will miss the service of Steven Smith and David Warner as the four-match Border Gavaskar Test series commences. This also gives Virat Kohli and Co to take advantage of the opportunity and play their best game to register a memorable series win.

Virat Kohli & Co started the tour on a losing note as they lost the opening T20I. However, they bounced back to finish the series on level terms after the second games washed out due to rain. And now, with the Test series starting from December 6, India will be desperate to start on a winning note.

Speaking on the same, Farokh Engineer noted that this would be India’s best opportunity to beat the Aussies. He also added that the visitors should make use of the absence of the two star cricketers.

India will never have a better chance of beating Australia. Australia are a pretty ordinary team at the moment, without these two people (Smith and Warner) and we should make the best of this opportunity,” 80-year-old Engineer told PTI.

Engineer also admitted that India are playing good cricket and have the pedigree to beat the hosts at home.

India are playing very good cricket, we have a great captain in Virat Kohli, he is doing superbly well. We have got a good all-round side, good pace bowlers, good spinners, so let’s take advantage of that and beat Australia in Australia, which we should be doing and we will be doing, God willing,” he concluded.
