Team India skipper Virat Kohli received boos from a small section of the Adelaide crowd as he came onto bat on day three of the first Test against Australia. However, former Aussie skipper Ricky Ponting came out in support of Kohli and expressed his displeasure seeing the action of the fans. He also added that it didn’t raffle Kohli.

Meanwhile, Kohli came to bat on day one of the first amidst warm applause from the fans. He also received praise from the fans on day three as well, but some section of the fans did the unpleasantry. Ricky Ponting spoke from experience of having the similar experience during the 2009 Ashes tour.

I don’t like seeing it at all,” Ponting told cricket.com.au. “It didn’t worry me as a player when it happened in England a couple times. You’ve almost got to accept it as acknowledgment for what you’ve done in the game. But I’d rather not see that happen at all.

It’ll be water off a duck’s back (for Kohli), I’m sure. He’s probably had worse things happen to him on a cricket field, I would have thought, than getting booed by a couple of spectators as he walks on,” he added.

In addition to, Ricky Ponting stated that Australia’s middle-order Travis Head is still a Test batsman in the making. Head on Thursday played a 72 run knock and was the only significant contributor in Australia’s batting order.

I’m really impressed with him as a player and a person,” Ponting said. “He’s very a level-headed young man, he’s very calm and pretty confident in his own game. He’s obviously still a work in progress. There’s not too many Australian batsmen at the moment who are the absolute finished product,” he concluded.
