Earlier, the former Aussie skipper, Ricky Ponting had picked Australia’s XI for the first Test in Adelaide, which begins on December 6th. Meanwhile, Ricky has now named the India bowlers he would like to see playing the match. However, the Indian camp includes the likes of Mohammed Shami, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, Umesh Yadav and Ishant Sharma. They will represent the pace department, whereas, Kuldeep Yadav, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Ravindra Jadeja will look into the spin department.

Moreover, the legendary batsman has favoured Kuldeep Yadav as his first choice spinner. He said Kuldeep will play as a wrist spinner and will provide India with a bag of wickets on the Adelaide track.

“I would go with Kuldeep. I know what Ashwin can do, he can bowl tight, but I’m not very sure how many wickets he can get in Australian conditions, especially staying in Adelaide and then going to Perth. Will play a leg-spinner in these conditions,” Ricky Ponting said.

Furthermore, it is surprising to see that Ricky Ponting left out pacers – Ishant Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah. Instead, he focuses more on bowlers and who can provide pace and swing as well.

“Will keep Bumrah on the ice, Yadav offers a bit more with the brand new ball and Shami potentially with the reverse swing,” Ponting added.

The 43-year-old also backed Buvneshwar Kumar, Umesh Yadav, and Mohammed Shami as India’s first pace preferences. Ponting further said the Bengal pacer has a lot of variety in his bowling attack, as he has the extra quality of delivering reverse swing as well.

Bumrah-Ishant to rest for Adelaide Test for me

“Their fast bowling brigade would be Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Shami. Probably the attack I would go with. Shami is a very good reverse swing bowler, Bhuvneshwar is very good with the brand new ball,” Ricky Ponting told cricket.com.au.
