Australia vs India 2018: Sunil Gavaskar Slams Team Mangement, Wants KL Rahul to Get Back Home

Former Indian skipper Sunil Gavaskar has slammed the team management for their peculiar decision making. India went in with Umesh Yadav for the Perth Test match where they should have played Ravindra Jadeja or Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Meanwhile, the Indian team’s is facing the wrath as the openers have failed to come up good.

KL Rahul has been in poor form and hasn’t hit the ground running in the recent past. Apart from his blistering hundred in Oval in the fifth Test match, Rahul’s form has been a kryptonite for the Indian team. Rahul has scored only 48 runs in the four innings and has let the team with his poor show. Consequently, Sunil Gavaskar wants KL Rahul to get back home and play Ranji trophy.

Furthermore, Sunil Gavaskar believes it is a joke to have a 19-man squad. Mayank Agarwal was named Prithvi Shaw’s replacement after the latter was ruled out of the entire tour due to an ankle injury. Moreover, Hardik Pandya was also added to the Indian team.

“Send Rahul back and ask him to play Ranji,” he was heard saying. “Having 19 players for two Tests is a joke,” he said.

On the other hand, Prithvi Shaw was ruled out from the first two Test matches. However, Sunil Gavaskar lashed out at the Medical team as Shaw was expected to get fit for the third Test match.

Unfortunately, the prodigy batsman was ruled out of the entire tour. Thus, Gavaskar believes had the Indian team known more about the whereabouts of Shaw’s injury, they could have flown in the replacement earlier and could have made him ready to the Australian conditions.

“The one assessing Prithvi Shaw must be taken to task. He lied or else India could have flown in his replacement earlier and got him acclimatized,” was heard saying on air.

The third Test match will take place at Melbourne from December 26.
