Australia Test skipper, Tim Paine has his work cut out ahead of the Test opener in Adelaide, which begins on December 6th. Meanwhile, the wicket-keeper batsman has urged his pacers not to get too emotional in their clash against Virat Kohli’s men. Paine said his side could challenge the top batting teams with their skills. However, the India captain, Kohli had earlier made it clear that he won’t breathe fire and is not interested in starting a sledge.
Aussie pacers ready for in-form Kohli
Of late, Virat Kohli had already slammed five hundred on his previous two Test visits, as he has fond memories of playing in Adelaide. The 30-year-old has three centuries at the venue.
However, Paine believes his pacers can do the job and get the better of Kohli. He also said the side could lift their performance without getting into verbal duals.
Tim Paine backs his bowlers to do the job
“I think our fast bowling attack … if they play purely on skill, they’re going to trouble him,” Paine told cricket.com.au. “At times when we get too emotional, we can lose our way a little bit. So it’s a really fine line.
“There’s going to be times when they’re going to get a bit fiery, I’m sure. But we need to be mindful of keeping ourselves calm enough so we can execute our skills as well.” the skipper pointed out.
Meanwhile, the mind games have been going on for quite some time now. India’s head coach Ravi Shastri also backed Kohli and said his ward has matured over the years. The leader himself observed India have mainly given it back to the opposition and hardly started a sledge in recent past.
Although the hosts are going through the cultural change, a lot of emphases have been put on the manner they conduct themselves.
