So, yet another wicketkeeper-cum-skipper joins the list for not lending full support to Decision Review System (DRS). Earlier, it was former Team India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who felt that there are errors to get resolved in DRS. And now, it is the turn of Paine, who feels DRS is not perfect at all. Further, he also explained a few scenarios, which left him agonisingly surprised.

Australia experienced a few frustrating moments during their first Test against Indian at Adelaide. A couple of calls went against them when Indian reviewed the on-field decision.

DRS is frustrating – Tim Paine

The Australian skipper quoted that DRS is not a hundred per cent and also added that it is frustrating as for him as a leader. Further, he said that few balls look like hitting the stumps, but the DRS revealed it missed the stumps by quite a distance.

Paine went on to say that no one can do much about the system but added that it is interesting. He also spoke on the batting and bowling perspective regarding DRS calls.

“It’s one of those things. You can’t do much about it. We’ve been told Aaron’s, for instance, would still not have been overturned. Yeah, the DRS is interesting,” Paine said.

“I don’t want to talk about DRS. It’s just – it is what it is. A lot of balls seem to be going over the top of the stumps, I know that that life doesn’t look like they are. So yeah, it is what it is. Look it’s not a perfect system and I haven’t got the answers. It’s just frustrating, I’d imagine it’s frustrating for everyone,” he added.

“Aaron felt something on his glove, it ended up being his pad, that can happen. From a bowling and in the field perspective we’ve got a process we go through with myself and the bowler. Nathan Lyon’s at point a lot, he gives us an indication of height. You have to take everyone’s piece of information and make good decisions. We got a couple wrong but that can happen,” he maintained.

Well, after a prolonged gap, a player spoke on the review system openly in the media. It would be interesting to see whether the supreme board like International Cricket Council (ICC) would bring any new changes in the decision making.
