Australia’s southpaw batsman Usman Khawaja is optimistic of recovery for the first Test match against India. Khawaja had a fine first Test match against Pakistan. The left-hander scored in both the innings to save Australia from the defeat. Khawaja had scored 85 in the first innings and backed it with another 141 to rescue Australia. However, Usman suffered the knee injury which ruled him out.

Furthermore, it also put his participation for India Test under the dark clouds. The first Test match between Australia and India will begin from 6th December at Adelaide. Thus, Khawaja is confident to recuperate on time.

Usman Khawaja return will be a shot in the arm for Australia.

The left-hander batsman said his recovery is on the right path and he is looking forward to getting back to action.

“I’m 10 kilograms lighter than I was in South Africa maybe seven months ago, so I’m sure that helps the knees in some respects,” he told Cricket Australia.

“My recovery is going really well so far. I’m trying to keep it cool, but it’s actually going really well.

“I feel like I’m a little bit ahead of where I should be,” added the 31-year-old.

“If I keep doing the little things right — looking after my body, being disciplined — hopefully that’ll transition to me coming back in time.”

Therefore, Usman Khawan is hopeful of his return. In fact, there is a chance that Usman Khawaja might play for his state team Queensland in the Sheffield Shield against Victoria. The match will take place on November 27 ahead of the first Test match against India.

Khawaja has been in good form. Consequently, his return to the side will be a shot in the arm for the struggling Australian side especially in the absence of Steven Smith and David Warner.
