Australia vs India 2018: Virat Kohli And Ajinkya Rahane Wickets Were Special - Nathan Lyon

Ahead of the start of the series, the buzz was all about the Australia fast bowling attack, who has got specialist bowlers. But, it is all about Nathan Lyon – the spinner, in a couple of Tests that have been played.  The all-time great of Australia once again showed his magic on Perth wicket to level the series for them and also bagged man of the match award.

Initially, it was expected by looking at the Perth wicket that the second Test is all about the fast bowling unit. But, surprisingly, spinners came into the game and the hosts would ask no one better than Nathan Lyon under such circumstances.

Nathan Lyon, in post-match presentation, quoted that it is pretty pleasing for him to collect the award on a winning note. Further, he termed the wickets of Ajinkya Rahane and Virat Kohli are special.

He also spoke on his change in role for the Adelaide Test to Perth. Nathan Lyon also revealed that his brother Brendon Lyon is helping him with the batting to come good for Australia at the lower-order.

”It is amazing to play a role in a team victory and to have the support here in Perth and all around Australia has been fantastic. Thanks for all the support. It’s pretty fair to say we have been in a drought and to wrap up their tail pretty quickly was special. My role changed a fair bit to a more attacking role in Adelaide to a defending role here. Definitely, those two wickets (Virat and Rahane) are special,” Nathan Lyon quoted.

”Virat is the number one player in the world, to compete against him and to be able to take his wicket is pretty special. Pant is a wonderful striker of the ball, he’s a special talent and it’s always a great challenge to bowl to him. My brother (Brendan Lyon) has been helping me with the batting. I am not a very good batter, so I am trying to improve a little bit and play my role,” he added.

Well, it has been a great game for Nathan Lyon at Perth.  He finished with 8 wickets that included a 5-wicket haul as well. Now, the series nicely poised for an intriguing end.
