Australia’s fast bowler Pat Cummins tried to get under the skin of India’s opener KL Rahul by trying to engage him in the war of words. The hosts could not get early wickets which left them frustrated as Rahul and Murali Vijay added an alliance of 63 runs. In fact, this is the first time when KL Rahul and Murali Vijay have come up with a partnership of more than 50 runs while batting on overseas soil.
Meanwhile, KL Rahul tried to heave a big shot towards the cover region while batting against Pat Cummins. However, he was not able to make the connection between his willow and the ball. Cummins was not at all impressed by the attacking mindset of Rahul and gave him his piece of mind.
Subsequently, Rahul didn’t give any reply to Cummins. However, Rahul signalled to the dressing room that his hands are sweaty and he wants a new pair of gloves.
On the next ball, Rahul flashed hard at the ball and it when above the slips for a four. This added salt to the injury for Cummins and once again he had a chat with KL Rahul regarding his gloves grip. However, KL Rahul was playing with fire as he was taking too many chances. In fact, the right-hander also played a reverse sweep and went for the big shots.
Thus, Rahul’s batting approach had a big chance of a failure and it ended after the right-hander scored 44 runs. On the other hand, Murali Vijay was once again dismissed while meddling with the outside off stump ball. Vijay could not get the connection and Peter Handscomb took a good catch at second slip.
