Indian National Cricket team skipper Virat Kohli showed his masterclass when he smacked Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood for three back to back boundaries on the afternoon session of day two of the second Test.

Meanwhile, in reply to Australia’s 326 in the first innings, India lost both of their openers early. Mitchell Starc and Hazlewood bowled two world-class deliveries to rattle the timber. The opening duo once again failed to provide a good start as India will look forward to their middle-order to contribute.

Since then, Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara steadied the innings dominating the bowlers. Especially, Kohli was in his prime touch, not shying away from playing his shots. In doing so, he smashed Josh Hazlewood to three consecutive boundaries to stamp his authority.

Previously, starting the day on 277 for six, Cummins along with skipper Tim Paine showed enough grit to extend the first innings score. The duo showed temperament against a potent line-up to bring up the 300 runs for Australia. This is the first time in the last seven innings, the hosts have managed to scale the 300-run mark. In addition to, the duo also brought their fifty-run stand for the seventh wicket.

But once the floodgates opened, the pacers cleaned up the tail with Ishant Sharma leading the pack. However, India will have an uphill task at hand to take a significant first innings lead.
