With David Warner and Steven Smith staying out of the team, a section of people already made up their minds thinking Indians would seal the Tests convincingly. However, the Indian camp isn’t impressed at all with that, as they feel Australia is still a tough side, especially, in their home conditions. Meanwhile, Ishant Sharma also terms the same.
Ishant Sharma has been the headliner for apparent reasons when Australia toured India in the last season. Indeed, he will be the cynosure of the eyes when India and Australia lock horns in the first Test at Adelaide, which begins on December 6th in Adelaide.
We are pretty motivated – Ishant Sharma
The lanky fast bowler quoted they are not at all thinking about the absence of their star players. He feels every individual who dons the national jersey is capable enough to win it for the team on their day.
”We don’t really think about all these things. It depends on a given day. In cricket whoever is playing for the country is good enough. Till the time we get the results, we don’t take anything lightly. We are pretty motivated. The aim right now is to win the series and that is what everyone is focussing on. We don’t even think of personal performances, just one aim, to win a series in Australia,” said Sharma on Tuesday.
“Pressure is there but I think it is a great opportunity as well. We have a healthy competition in the pace attack. If you are not doing well, you can be left sitting out and watching the game,” he added.
Ishant Sharma speaks of facial expressions:
When asked about Virat Kohli’s charisma in the dressing unit, Ishant quoted every individual on the side is pretty motivated to win the game. He added it wasn’t the case only on this tour but also during every series. He also spoke on those weird facial expressions as well.
“It is very difficult to say right now (about facial expressions). I don’t know what’s going to happen. When the series starts, we will get to know what faces to make. Everyone is passionate because we are always motivated to win a series, not just in Australia but when we played in South Africa and England too, we were pretty motivated to win the series,” he inferred.
All in all, it would be intriguing to see how the Indians would tackle the Australians in the first Test in Adelaide. It seems like the absence of Steven Smith, and David Warner is adding an extra-pressure on team India.
