Well, the upcoming Adelaide Test against Australia is going to be a big headache for team India management, as far as the selection of playing XI is concerned. With Hardik Pandya staying out of the side, the fight for number six spot has become an interesting aspect. Most probably, it would be among Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and Rohit Sharma.
Meanwhile, in a recent social media post, team India has given a hint with both Ravichandran Ashwin and Rohit Sharma taking the net sessions. However, in the meantime, it would be pretty harsh on Jadeja, who delivered in England and against the Windies.
Ravichandran Ashwin and Rohit Sharma pushing for a place:
In a case of opting both Rohit Sharma and Ashwin in the side, the possible exclusion would be Ravindra Jadeja. However, can we see it happening? Jadeja had scored a brilliant fifty when he was given a chance in place of Ashwin in England.
Well, if they go with Rohit Sharma and Jadeja, the exclusion of Ashwin would take effect on both batting and bowling sections. To press Ashwin’s case further, Australia’s most of the batsmen are left-handed, which certainly asks India to hold him. In between, Hanuma Vihari made his case stronger with consistent performances.
In another case, if they go with Jadeja and Ashwin, team India top five batsmen should take the onus on them to score runs. With Australia having a brilliant bowling attack, India might not risk going with five proper batsmen, who are already carrying out-of-form KL Rahul in it.

All in all, it would be interesting to see how team India management would come up with their plans. As far as the injuries are concerned, Prithvi Shaw is the only name on the list.
Another trickier selection would be the fast bowling section. With Ishant Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Shami all set to take the field, Bhuvneshwar Kumar could be the unfortunate candidate to miss out. Or else, there is a chance that India might put him ahead of Ashwin as well.
