Australia vs South Africa 2018, 3rd ODI, Hobart - Match Report

South Africa was able to win the decider by 40 runs and thus the visitors also bagged the series by 2-1. Australia skipper Aaron Finch had won the toss and decided to bowl first. South Africa was able to post an above par score of 320 runs after their allocated 50 overs. The Proteas skipper Faf du Plessis and David Miller put on a clinic as they shared a record partnership of 252 runs.
du Plessis scored his 10th ODI hundred whereas Miller was able to put on a masterpiece to bring up his fifth ODI ton. In fact, South Africa was behind the eighth ball as they were tottering at 55-3. However, du Plessis and Miller were able to come up with goods to post a fine score on the board.
Miller raced to 139 off just 108 whereas Faf amassed 125 runs. The pair took their time in the initial stages and later put their foot on the accelerator. The tourists were able to get 130 runs off the last ten overs to put the hosts on the backfoot.
On the other hand, Australia could not get off to a good start as they lost both their opener cheaply. Shaun Marsh was the star with the bat for the hosts.
The southpaw batsman scored his sixth ODI hundred in which he scored seven fours and four maximums. Marsh was able to put an alliance of 107 runs with Marcus Stoinis for the fourth wicket. The Australia all-rounder Marcus Stoinis scored a fine knock of 63 runs but could not carry on in the same way.
Meanwhile, Kagiso Rabada and Dale Steyn bagged three wickets each as both the fast bowlers bowled with fire.
South Africa had won the first match by six wickets whereas Australia had won the second by seven runs. The one-off T20I between the two sides will take place at Queensland on November 17.
