Australia vs South Africa 2018: Twitter Reacts as Faf, Miller Powers Proteas to Above Par Score

South Africa was able to post a par total of 320 runs in the decider of the three-match ODI series against Australia. The hosts won the toss and decided to bowl first in the third One-Dayer. The tourists didn’t get off to an ideal start as they lost three early wickets. The visitors were tottering at 55-3 and a good partnership was the need of the hour.

South African skipper Faf du Plessis and southpaw batsman David Miller was able to do the rebuilding work with great success. du Plessis scored an a fine knock of 125 runs whereas Miller amassed 139 runs off just 108 balls. The Proteas skipper scored his 10th ODI hundred to pull out his team out of trouble. The right-hander scored 15 fours and two maximums in his blistering knock whereas Miller scored 13 fours and four sixes to bring his fifth ODI ton. They put together a gargantuan alliance of 252 runs between them.

The experienced pair took their time in the initial stages and then launched their attack in the death overs. The duo was able to press the accelerator and got their runs at a brisk pace in the last ten overs. South Africa scored 130 runs from the last ten overs.

The series is tied at 1-1 and both the teams will look to win the series. South Africa was able to win the first ODI by six wickets whereas Australia was able to end their winning drought in the second ODI as they won by seven runs.

Meanwhile, it was crucial for South Africa to put a competitive total on the board in the all-important decider. The Proteas was able to tick the right boxes and would be happy with their batting performance.

Subsequently, it now up to the visitor’s bowlers to deliver the goods. On the other hand, Australia will have their work cut to chase the total. The hosts will depend on their skipper Aaron Finch to come up good.
