Australia vs Sri Lanka 2019: Dimuth Karunaratne Is Recovering Well After The Nasty Hit

The left-handed batsman Dimuth Karunaratne is doing well after coping the nasty blow from Pat Cummins delivery. The flamboyant cricketer is doing fine with the medical stuff, thus being escaped from any major injury. The official Twitter panel of Cricket Australia revealed the news to the fans, who are worried about his situation.

It was in the 31st over of the match when Aussie speedster Pat Cummins came in running to deliver the 4th ball of the over. Cummins came from around the stumps and the short-pitched delivery went to hit the back of Karunaratne’s helmet. Immediately, Dimuth was down into the ground.

The 30-year-old Karunaratne, who retired hurt on 46, left the ground on a motorized stretcher. He was later shown on television being taken by ambulance to a hospital. He appeared to be conscious, although medical staff appeared concerned about his neck.

No Danger:

Earlier, the coach of Sri Lanka, Hathurusingha quoted that he is being assessed regarding the same. He added that it was a bit scary to see Karunaratne falling down after being struck with the bouncer.

“He’s in the hospital at the moment and he’s in good spirits,” Sri Lanka coach Chandika Hathurusingha said after the day’s play. “He’s being assessed, there’s no danger at the moment. He was talking to us before he was leaving as well.

“It was a bit scary at the start, the way he fell back initially but he was okay, throughout he was talking to the umpires and the physio. He was hit on the back of the head, back of the neck so he’s being assessed at the moment.”

It has been such kind of tour for Sri Lanka. Apart from, Dimuth Karunaratne, Sri Lanka has already lost the services of their top 4 players with injuries. Of late, Sri Lanka cricket has suffered a lot with the injuries to their key players not only in Australia but also back home.
