Yet again, cricket has witnessed one of the bizarre set of things. The opening batsman of Sri Lanka received a nasty blow on the field to be stretchered off the field. However, the reports suggest that he is out of danger. Meanwhile, the bowler, Pat Cummins, who bowled the bouncer has expressed that he is a relieved man after knowing the situation.

It was in the 31st over of the match when Aussie speedster Pat Cummins came in running to deliver the 4th ball of the over. Cummins came from around the stumps and the short-pitched delivery went to hit the back of Karunaratne’s helmet. Immediately, Dimuth was down into the ground.

“It’s never a nice feeling seeing someone go down like that,” Cummins told the host broadcaster after the end of the day’s play. “The good thing was he looked like he was moving his hands and the physio said he seemed all right when he left.

“All of us were in a little bit of shock but I think everyone’s okay which is good. Hoping he’s okay to bat again tomorrow,” Patterson added.

All in all, it was one of those bad days for Dimuth Karunaratne. He has been the consistent performer for the team over the years, especially, in Test format. It is yet to know whether he can take part in the next three days of the Test match.
