Australia vs Sri Lanka 2019: Watch - Niroshan Dickwella Pulls off an Amazing Shot

Niroshan Dickewella, the wicket-keeper batsman from Sri Lanka, brought his T20 boots out when he scooped one over the wicket-keeper’s head on day one of the first Test at Brisbane.

Meanwhile, Australia handed baggy greens to Jhye Richardson and Kurtis Patterson before Sri Lanka opted to bat. Dimuth Karunaratne and Lahiru Thirimanne saw off the first half hour as Mitchell Starc struggled to find the perfect length. Richardson poised more questions before Pat Cummins provided the hosts with their first breakthrough when he dismissed Thirimanne. Richardson dismissed Chandimal to bag his maiden Test wicket before Nathan Lyon dismissed Karunaratne late in the session to give Australia the advantage.

Jhye Richardson and Pat Cummins struck crucial blows as Australia dominated the afternoon session to reduce Sri Lanka to 122 for 8. Richardson added two to his tally while Cummins bagged another wicket to help Australia pick five wickets in the session after the visitors started on 58 for 3. While they lost wickets from one end, Niroshan Dickwella tried to fight back. He went after the Aussie bowling trying to put some runs on the board.

However, during the 50th over of the innings, Niroshan Dickwella played a T20 shot off the fiery left-arm fast bowler Mitchell Starc. The southpaw moved across his stumps and sits down on his knee to scoop it straight over Tim Paine. The spectators at the Gabba stood in awe as it landed just over the rope.

Meanwhile, the Australian wrapped up the Sri Lankan innings for a paltry score of 144 runs. Niroshan Dickwella topped the scoring chart with 64 runs while Cummins bagged four wickets with good support from the other bowlers.
