Australian Journalist Takes A Dig At Team India, Owned By Indian And Pakistani Fans

While players from as many as seven countries are a part of the World XI that is going to take on Pakistan in a three-match T20I series, not very surprisingly, the Indian players have given it a miss. There are several reasons behind it. First of all, the busy schedule did not allow the players to even consider playing in Pakistan and secondly and perhaps the biggest reason is the bitter relationship between India and Pakistan at the moment.
The arch-rivals have not played a full bilateral Test series since 2007 when Pakistan visited India for three Tests and five One-Day Internationals. They played a short series of three ODIs and two T20s in India in December 2012 but otherwise, both have faced each other only in the ICC organised events or the Asia Cup.
With the reasons known to more or less everyone in cricket fraternity, the Indian players’ decision has not been questioned by many. However, an Australian journalist, Dennis Freedman, in an attempt to take a dig at the Indian players for their absence in the World XI side, posted a controversial tweet probably crossed the line.
Known for his humorous tweets, Freedman posted a picture of Virat Kohli and his team from last year, when the Indian squad participated in the Swatch Bharat campaign and cleaned the Eden Gardens and wrote: “Sweepers clean the stadium in readiness for the World XI match.”

As expected, his tweet did not go down well with the Indian fans who did not hesitate in giving him a piece of his mind.
Wow… Thanks for showing how good we indians are… We know to clean the place we worship. So keep making india proud of their culture.
