India suffered a heavy ten-wicket defeat in the first Test against Kane Williamson-led New Zealand in Wellington. The Virat Kohli-led side never looked like winning the game right after losing the toss on day one. India’s batsmen once again struggled to get going in swinging conditions and were all out for just 165.

New Zealand made the most of the opportunity and did not let India make a comeback in the game. The hosts came up with a fine batting display to pile up 348 and effectively push the world number one Test side out of the game by taking a mammoth lead of 183 runs.

India came up with a poor display in the second innings too and were all out for just 191. Starting day four on 144 for 4, still trailing New Zealand by 39 runs, India lost their last six wickets inside 80 minutes. Set a target of just 9 runs, New Zealand chased down the total without losing a wicket to inflict the heaviest defeat on India in terms of wickets under Virat Kohli’s captaincy.

Brad Hogg takes dig:

Former Australia leg-spinner could not resist a dig at India after their poor show in Wellington. The legendary chinaman bowler took to Twitter to give his opinion on India’s performance in New Zealand. Brad Hogg stated that India are still having troubles with Test cricket in New Zealand.

Not only that, Brad Hogg also took a dig at Virat Kohli & Co., saying that the visitors meant business in the first two weeks of the tour while the other four weeks have turned into a sightseeing tour. He was referring to India’s 5-0 win in the T20Is before the visitors lost the ODIs 3-0 and the first Test.

“India still have there troubles in New Zealand in test cricket. Batsmen have 5 days to find a way to play the seaming ball before Christchurch. First 2 weeks they meant business, next 4 weeks turning into a sightseeing tour,” wrote Brad Hogg.
