Babar Azam had also previously been charged with harassing, threatening, and blackmailing a woman by the name of Hamiza Mukhtar, who reported the incident to the FIA. The same woman who accused Babar Azam of sexually abusing her, forcing her to have an abortion, and making bogus marriage promises last year is still at large in Lahore.
Babar Azam Set to be Replaced As Skipper:
Babar Azam’s removal as the Test captain is the first step towards the full revamp that the new leadership of the Pakistan Cricket Board is seeking. Additionally, they do not have any plans to extend Saqlain Mushtaq’s and Shaun Tait’s coaching contracts. According to the sources, there will be a foreign coach leading the setup with three different captains for three different configurations.
After the Pakistan Super League in March of this year, extensive reforms will be put into effect. The news follows Pakistan’s disappointing home series, in which they lost three of five Test matches, prompting concerns about Babar Azam’s management of the red-ball format.
“The PCB is mulling to strip Babar Azam from all-format captaincy and appoint separate skippers for all the three formats,” a report in Geo News said.
Shan Masood’s inclusion as vice-captain in the ODI series against New Zealand in place of Shadab Khan was part of the same long-term strategy, the sources said, adding different captains for red and white-ball formats is also possible.
